The Stewardesses originally opened in San Francisco during the summer of ’69, and it carries strong earmarks of the hippie scene that took America by storm then. A typical day for a bunch of airline stewardesses reveals hedonism, sex, and more sex. A joke of a story line serves as the cement holding together numerous scenes of sexuality, including lesbian sex and masturbation using a statue. Yet, for a film with a budget of about $500,000 in 2005 dollars, it went on to gross about $25 million, which does nothing to elevate it above the insipid pornography that it is.
