The superb actress Sissy Spacek has a career-bolstering turn in this drama by writer-directors Hunter Hill and Perry Moore. Billy (Troy Garity) gets into trouble with a vicious drug dealer, and heads to the house he grew up in for refuge. He brings Clayton (Colin Ford) with him, the young son of his girlfriend, Hope (Drea de Matteo). Spacek plays his generous mother, Maggie. Billy and Maggie confront his drug-dealing antagonists as well as an old tragedy. Lake City features marvelous cinematography to go with its stunning imagery, and the relationship between Billy and Maggie is beautifully portrayed.
