Founder, GlamourSpa
When Renee Rhoden started her beauty business, she had the individual needs of women in mind. Having worked as on-site makeup artist for the likes of Bloomingdale’s and Lord & Taylor, Rhoden concluded it was time to strike out on her own, after several customers sought her talents outside the confines of the local mall.
“I got so many compliments about my skill[s] women would ask for my number,” says Rhoden, the founder of GlamourSpa. “I decided to branch off … and I’ve been very busy so far … I’m ready to start building [and] gaining more business [to] build a foundation from.”
Before launching GlamourSpa, Rhoden also spent time studying other makeup artists to incorporate new tools and techniques into her business. “I would open magazines and look at how … other artists applied eye shadow. I would portfolio all of these pictures and practice a lot [to expand my] vision and understanding of how women’s eyes should look.”
Rhoden’s business offers a myriad of skin care services. In addition, the beauty expert lends her expertise to everything from television and film sets, to weddings and simple photography sessions. Though GlamourSpa is making a name in all facets of the industry, the founder insists the company’s mission is rooted in helping women reveal their inner beauty.
“My whole concept is to help women feel good about themselves [and] . teaching them very simple techniques on how to apply eye shadow and how to apply foundation,” Rhoden says. –gavin philip godfrey
