Vinx – 50 Memoirs of a Hip Ole’ Black Man

Percussionist/vocalist/pop star Vinx returns with an accessible album that has the hallmarks of ringing guitars, Vinx’s handsome singing voice and a studio-as-instrument approach. The sound is mostly laid-back on this sometimes hedonistic exploration, but “So Pretty” rocks with a Caribbean flavor and “Where Is the Love” boasts techno beats. The triumphant last cut, “Sensuality” is a cool-out R & B jam that grooves with the best of them. Bottom line: This is a solid offering. -forrest green III
