David Sanborn is no stranger to the Montreux Jazz Festival. This excellent performance is from his 1984 tour to promote the Straight to the Heart album. The camera work could have been a little better in capturing the stage show, but what counts here is the music —and Sanborn delivers. The band, featuring Ricky Lawson (ex-Yellowjackets drummer) and the late, great Hiram Bullock on guitar, is super tight and funky. This is one DVD no Sanborn fan should miss. –dark abyss
