T.I. Sentenced to One Year, One Day

As anticipated, Clifford “T.I.” Harris was sentenced today, March 27th, 2009, to serve 366 days after pleading guilty to federal weapons charges. He will also be required to pay a $100,000 fine and complete an additional 500 hours of community service once he is released. T.I. is expected to report to prison sometime after May 19th.

“Everything I learned was through trial and error,” T.I. told U.S. District Judge Charles Pannell Jr. during the sentencing. “I’ve learned lessons in my life to put in my music so people won’t make the same mistakes as I [did.]”

With fiancée, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle by his side, T.I., looking relatively somber, quickly addressed the media with a short press conference, expressing his apologies again for the situation.

Meanwhile, outside of the courthouse, three of the youngsters from his MTV show, Road to Redemption looked on through the large glass windows of the building, anticipating their mentor’s sentencing. Cynthia, Pee Wee and Anthony, who read the sentencing from a transcript through the window, showed little visible reaction to the sentencing, which went as expected. – jh
