He’s trying, folks. That’s the best that can be said for MIMS and his sophomore release, Guilt. Still trying to prove that he’s more than just a Young MC of this generation, the New York born rapper still sounds comfortable only on hollow club tracks like “(Move) If You Wanna,” and, be warned, “Love Rollercoaster,” is not a cover nor a sample of the Ohio Players’ classic hit, but a mawkish attempt at pop-rap balladry. His rhymes are decent but uninspired and his attempts at artistic relevance ring particularly shallow. But — he is trying, folks. – dusty culpepper
