3 Reasons Not to Miss Hip-Hop’s Kings: Bun B, Paul Wall & Mike Jones

Paul Wall
As half of the legendary group UGK, Bun B has always been about the people. Nearly two decades later, southern music’s president hasn’t changed his M.O. Currently on tour, Bun recently stopped in Atlanta for an electrifying show sponsored by MySpace Music. This time around, Bun had his Houston comrades with him, Mike Jones and Paul Wall. Here are three reasons you should’ve been there.

Bun B loves his fans. He didn’t only perform hits his post-2000 fans would know. “Back Front Back,” “Hi Life,” and “Pocket Full of Stones” were all on Bun’s show list, and he ripped through them without losing a step—which was much appreciated by his hardcore followers.

He knows how to put on a show. Unlike some rappers who shall remain nameless, Bun actually holds the crowd’s attention when he performs. A great showman to the core, Bun consistently demonstrates why he’s been around so long with his live performances.

Mike Jones
Houston was in the house. Mike Jones and Paul Wall opened for Bun, and while some people scratched their heads at Mike’s insistence that they rap every bar of his song (the crowd didn’t really know the words), they both have a healthy catalogue of hits. Mike even freestyled for five straight minutes before closing his show. –jh
