Since her film debut in the mid-’90s, actress Scarlett Johansson has created an interesting niche for herself in American pop culture. The starlet’s witty sex symbol persona is divided into three meaty roles with this trio of films: An American Rhapsody, Girl With a Pearl Earring and the Oscar Wilde adaptation, A Good Woman. Rhapsody is based upon the true story of a Hungarian couple that leaves its daughter in the Communist country when they flee for the USA. Girl With a Pearl Earring features Johansson as a maid working in the residence of painter Johannes Vermeer (Colin Firth), and the famed painting that is the result.
