Angel West: in the right hands
Agency Owner, Allstate Insurance
Angel West was certain that she made the right decision when she joined Allstate Insurance five years ago. The Chicago native wanted to find a job that offered services and support to her community. Now, as an agency owner in the city’s West Loop area, the proud mother finds herself in a great position.
“There’s nothing more rewarding than … cover[ing] someone adequately and when the loss does happen — unfortunately — being there to support them and guide them [so that they can ] rest assured that they have coverage,” West says.
On a daily basis West meets with clients to offer affordable coverage options for renters, homeowners and entrepreneurs. West understands that the country’s current housing and financial crisis’ cause the average Joe to be wary of insurance agencies. West says however, that it’s still very important to develop a relationship with an agent. “Insurance is here to help you, it’s here … for you in times of loss,” she says. “Accidents are just that. We don’t expect them to happen, but they do and we want to make sure the customer has coverage when these accidents do occur.”
West says being an Allstate agent also affords her the flexibility she needs to balance her time between managing a branch office and being a mom. “All State works really well with the African American community [and] the Chicago community in general. It’s just been a very good support system … a great company all-around,” she says. –gavin philip godfrey
