Your Church Choir Can Win $10,000 in the Verizon Wireless “How Sweet the Sound” Gospel Competition
Registration is now open for Verizon Wireless’ “How Sweet The Sound” gospel competition and nationwide search for America’s best church choir. During the 11-city tour, church choirs have the chance to compete for the chance to win up to $50,000 in cash and prizes and the coveted title of “The Best Church Choir in America.”

GRAMMY® Award-winning songwriter, producer, arranger and music director, Donald Lawrence returns as tour emcee with renowned gospel artist, Marvin Sapp (“Never Would Have Made It”) returning as tour judge. Each event will also feature special guest judges and unique performances by gospel artists, including Lawrence and Sapp.
The tour culminates in a musical finale in which the overall regional winning-choirs from each of the 11 cities compete for the honor of being named best church choir in the country. Now in its second full year, “How Sweet The Sound” returns to Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Memphis, Newark, Oakland, Philadelphia, St. Louis and Washington, DC.
