Singer-Songwriter Eric Roberson Shares 3 Songs That Reflect His Love for Black Women
New Jersey native Eric Roberson loves black women. From the strong relationship forged with his mother, to the impenetrable bond he shares with his wife, Shawn, the artist’s love and respect for womanhood is reflected in the music he produces. He performed at Procter and Gamble’s My Black Is Beautiful event to celebrate black femininity.
“It is important for me to come out [to] an event like this because I feel like I try to inspire and uplift through my music,” Roberson shared at a tour stop in Atlanta. “If I [can] sing my songs and share in that good energy, I’m all for it.”
Roberson shared three songs that he felt were his most intimate love letters to black women:
“Pretty Girl”
“It’s not really all about how beautiful you are on the outside, but I really want to know who you are on the inside.”
“Softest Lips”
“[Cherish] that you are God’s gift and he made you perfect just the way you are. I thank God for every inch that he made on you!”
“Power That Kisses Hold”
“We need to reinvest in each other and the foundation that we use to build our relationships on, we must reinvest in that. If I kissed you powerfully when I met you, we need to kiss like that 10–15 years down the road.”
“My definition of beauty is how you hold yourself,” Roberson explains. “It’s not your height, weight or whatever. It’s what you represent and how you carry yourself. You can look like a top model and be the ugliest woman in the world! I love a beautiful smile and I love when you feel good and can’t hide [it] and that smile escapes out of you.”
