Between the ‘50s and ‘80s, the Shaw Brothers’ studio arguably dominated the production of Hong Kong movies, generating hundreds of films. This set contains four of those tantalizing titles: Heroic Ones, Battle Wizard, Brothers Five and Two Champions of Shaolin. Two of the flicks highlight director Chang Cheh, whose stories of brotherhood and camaraderie rocked the martial arts world as hard as a roundhouse kick to the face. Genre conventions are fortified, set up and even discarded in this collection of classics, which equals a whopping 392 minutes of action and fun. –forrest green III
