LeBron James Turns the NBA Playoffs Into a Horror Show for Opponents
Things are getting scary for whichever team ends up opposing LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Every arena that the Cavaliers have played in has become a dwelling that is haunted by an NBA MVP who creates nightmares like Freddy Kruger, and rips through opposing defenses like Leatherface. At this point, there isn’t a single person who can put an end to his onslaught. In his first 109 minutes in the 2009 NBA Playoffs, James scored 108 points. Against the Atlanta Hawks and Detroit Pistons, he has had scoring games of 47, 38, 36 and 34. James’ eyes are focused on an NBA championship and he will continue to terrify opponents until he gets his shot at the title in June. –amir shaw
During Game 3 of the second-round playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks, you exchanged words with a fan. Talk about that exchange.
There was a gentleman who decided that he wanted to talk to me during the game. It has happened in the past and it’s not usually good for the opposing team. It gets me going a little more when a guy doubts the way I play basketball. I had to show him why I think we’re one of the best teams in the world.
How have you been able to intimidate opponents during the playoffs?
We don’t try to intimidate anybody. We’re all grown men out here. We’re just playing our game. If you’re intimated by another player or team, you shouldn’t be in this league. I’m just having fun. Anytime I step on the court, I’m having fun. I love the game with a passion. That’s just the way I play basketball.
You have been in a zone during the first two rounds of the playoffs. Describe that feeling.
Anytime you get into a zone, it’s a great feeling. No matter how many guys they [the opposing team] put on you, you feel like you can continue to make shots. At the same time, I’m not forcing the shots. I only take what the defense gives me. The playoffs are what I work for in the off-season. This is the biggest stage in the world, and I want to perform and do the best I can.
