Keith Davis Jr. Giving African American Teens the Tools For Business Success

Keith Davis Jr. walks it how he talks it. The young entrepreneur is living proof of the power of hard work and positive spirit. Davis is also an author and his latest book, Young? So What: 10 Steps to Becoming A Successful Young Entrepreneur is a handbook for youngsters looking to carve out a healthy slice of the economic pie.

“The book is full of my trials and … business concepts I’ve learned form my parents, mentors and [others.] I put these steps together for another young person to follow and receive success — even at a young age,” Davis says.

For Davis, a positive attitude is at the core of all success. “Whatever situation or hand you’ve been dealt, if you have that [positive] mind-set, you can achieve greatness,” he shares. “And [you] must put your thoughts and ideas into action. There are so many young people that have been blessed with talents. But oftentimes, they relax instead of rising. Master your craft so that you can be the best that you can be.” And because he’s young enough to relate to his audience, Davis has an advantage as an author and motivational speaker. “I’m in high school and go through the same things they go through. I’m able to interact with them,” he says.

And it doesn’t hurt to have a father like Houston’s own Mr. D-MARS, Keith Davis Sr., founder of D-Mars.com, a communications and marketing company. The successful businessman helped shape Davis’ outlook and work ethic. “He’s been a big part of my life and he’s one of my mentors,” says Davis. “He really opened a lot of doors for me.”
