While Atlanta might currently stand as the epicenter of hip-hop music and urban entertainment there’s a similar Renaissance in Chicago that shouldn’t go unnoticed. Though many have dubbed the ATL “Black Hollywood,” several like-minded, creative individuals are on the verge of something just as big in the Windy City. Few understand the phenomenon better than Mo Billionaire.
As the COO and artists manager for The Movement Worldwide Inc, Mo B. has helped guide the careers of promising national musical up and comers like, Mic Terror, Hollywood Holt and Million $ Mano, as well as broker deals with Wrigley Gum, Boost Mobile and McDonald’s.
Even with a proven track record, Mo B. insists he’s always quality over quantity. “In my industry, I don’t want to really look at the numbers,” Mo B. says. “I want to be more creative – I want to be with the people, talk to the people — they tell me what they want to do and I deliver it.”
At only 27, Mo B is also hailed as one of the purveyors of the “New Chicago” hip-hop music scene. His practice of cultivating the creative spirit without looking to others for approval is what drives this newest group of MC’s, deejays and visual artists.
“We are really real, so if we’re not gangsters we’re not going to speak about being gangsters,” he says. “Its like if tight jeans is what we want to wear, or Dunks is what we want to wear, that’s just what we want to do.”
Mo B. plans to continue doing his own thing and clearing a path for others to follow. “How I see it [is] that God has taught me to deliver by … showing others that you can achieve any of your goals through perseverance and being focused as to what you want to do.” –gavin philip godfrey
