Live Nation Introduces Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood
Atlanta – Atlanta’s Lakewood Amphitheatre has a new name — Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood. The announcement came during a press conference held yesterday at the venue, which is owned by music giant, Live Nation.
Robin Loudermilk, president and CEO of Aaron’s
“This venue has had its ups and downs and I think it’s really on the upswing now,” says Robin Loudermilk, CEO and president of Aaron’s Inc. “We’re really proud to be associated with it going forward.”
Peter Conlon, president of Live Nation Atlanta, says that since the company took it over, the Amphitheatre has done exceptionally well.
“We acquired Lakewood Amphitheatre when Live Nation bought House of Blues,” Conlon explains. “When we took it over it was doing about 12 shows a year, and the first year we took that up to 26 shows. We grossed over $10 million and had over 280,000 people come through the gates.”
Loudermilk says that Aaron’s Inc. is also excited about potentially affecting the area surrounding the community.
“It’s not just about the venue, but about what the venue will bring to this area,” Loudermilk says. “So hopefully, you’ll see us do some other things around this area.”
This year, the venue will host a slew of big-name acts, including Coldplay, No Doubt, 311 and Depeche Mode. –jh
