Tanya Morgan, the critically-acclaimed group that burst onto the scene with their debut album, Moonlighting, is back with their fifth release, Brooklynati. Shaking off industry trends, or the hipster-hop of the day, Tanya Morgan sticks to doing what they do best, which is making sonically pleasing hip-hop. Arguably their best effort to date, the album dips into relationship ups and downs (” Without You” featuring Phonte and Brittany Bosco) and intermingles soul samples (“Morgan Blu” featuring Blu). Donwill, Von Pea and Ilyas are at the top of their game on Brooklynati — a strong release to add to their already impressive catalogue. –rogue marie
