The term “femcee,” should be abolished and Indianapolis lyricist/songwriter Brittany Street’s mixtape should be used for evidence as to why. Having worked with everyone from the late, J. Dilla to the legendary, Large Professor, its no surprise that the assertive flow and almost macho lyrical delivery of Street showcases exceptionally well on this disc. Whether she’s nimbly riding Lupe Fiasco’s “Go Go Gadget Flow” on “I-N-D-I-A-N-A-P-O-L-I-S” or getting the listener to shake their ass off on the standout dance track, “Hello Hollywood,” Ms. Street reminds us of Lil’ Kim and Da Brat, while giving all emcees – male or female – good reason to keep looking over their shoulders.
