If your love life had a soundtrack, Anthony Hamilton just might be the composer. His love stories are sugary at times, heavy at others, but always profoundly realistic. Currently on tour promoting his latest album, The Point of It All, Anthony took some time to break down the ins and outs of relationships for us. –jacinta howard

Who gets over arguments quicker — men or women?
I think men get over arguments quicker — depending on the man. Most of the time women want to make it linger. We want it to be over with [and] we don’t want to hear it all day long. The game is on [or] we got some where to go [laughing]. The longer you talk about it takes a lot out of us. We just want it to be over.

Who starts more arguments?
I think men tend to be knuckle heads. We don’t do what we’re supposed to, which causes a women to fuss at you. So if you don’t want to argue don’t do silly things. You know what the rules are — do them. You know how to speak to her, speak [that] way. She’ll be happier. Wash the dishes, put down the toilet seat, wipe the toilet seat, don’t leave the French fries in the car when you got lil’ Ray Ray and lil’ Johnny in there, and there will be no arguing.

What’s your definition of ‘the truth’ in a relationship?
Honesty and communication. Building it on a spiritual foundation and allowing God to utilize you both in the relationship. That’s the truth. Comfort [and] growth, those are the things that’s real truth and making love.

What’s the best way to make up when your woman is mad at you?
Flowers are always good. Sometimes women just want to talk. Lay with her, rub her head, grease her scalp. Just give her some time to be with her ladies. Give her time away from the kids. Cook for her sometimes, she doesn’t always have to do for you. Take the weight off of her sometimes. It makes a world of a difference.

What is the best attribute in a woman to you?
The best attributes [for] a woman [are] her skin and her curves and her willingness to stick through it all. I love her lips, her ankles and her thighs … I love it all.
