Making of the Band or Making of Diddy’s B(r)and?

We all know that Sean “Diddy” Combs loves the limelight. But perhaps no show displays his propensity for stealing the proverbial thunder more than, well, his show, “Making the Band.” Sure, the premise is based on turning average young talents into superstars, but since Diddy took over the show for MTV in 2002, the only major star to emerge has been Diddy. Maybe that’s why he’s decided to forgo all of the dramatics this go-around and will focus the new series entirely on himself — “Making His Band.” But don’t take our word for it. See for yourself. –jh

Da Band. The most memorable thing to come from this ill-fated group of talented unknowns was when Diddy famously made the members trudge across New York to get him a piece of cheesecake. The incident was the subject of jokes for years, showing it had more staying power than Da Band’s music.

Danity Kane. While the members of Danity Kane are certainly more memorable than Da Band’s, Diddy showed who was really boss when one of the members, Aubrey O’Day started to get a little too big for her low-rise miniskirt, by kicking her and D. Woods out of the group. Next went Shannon, then Audrey, and now the only member left is Dawn. Here’s hoping she actually drops an album.

Day 26. Yes, fans living in towns like Scranton, Pa., scream and chase Day 26 through the mall, but guess who starred in the most memorable episode? That’s right, Diddy when he coined the pop culture phrase, “No b—-assness.”
