Celebrity Acting Coach, Tracey Moore, Offers Tips to Aspiring Actors
Busta Rhymes, Eve, Ludacris, Nelly and Missy Elliot all have one friend in common who has contributed to the development of their character both on screen and off … Tracey Moore. Dubbed the “Hip Hop Acting Coach,” Moore offers much more to her clients and audience than just tips on acting. Whether it’s through her “The Spirited Actor” class that was recently featured in “Harlem Heights,” or her book, Principles of a Successful Audition, Moore is committed to helping budding performers develop their craft.
“I want to be the Les Brown to actors, because it is a very challenging journey and can be discouraging,” she explains. “I look at what everybody’s needs are as opposed to saying, ‘OK, this is how I teach.’ To be an actor you have to be honest, and to be honest you have to be in tune with your feelings.”
Actor Busta Rhymes agrees. “What makes Tracey’s approach so special as an acting coach is that she’s not the teacher that tells you what to do like there’s only one way,” he shares. “She’s not biased to her own philosophy. That’s what I love the most about her.”
Moore is currently working on her first feature film, The Departure, and also plans to reach actors on a broader scale with the debut of her Web site, www.thespiritedactor.com.
For aspiring actors who may never get the opportunity to attend her class personally, Moore offers the following tips.
1. “Being an actor is a journey, not a destination.”
2. “Be patient and focus on the work of an actor and not the ‘fame’ of it.”
3. “Learn the ‘business’ of show business.”
