George Foreman, the once ornery heavyweight boxing champ who famously
fought Muhammad Ali in the “Rumble in the Jungle,” is being honored by
the Texas Women’s Empowerment Foundation and Dr. Deavra Daughtry for
his extraordinary entrepreneurial legacy on Thursday, Aug. 27. Foreman is one of the honorees to receive the distinction at the TWEF’s International Financial and Leadership Summit.
The
TWEF, founded by entrepreneur, author and philanthropist, Deavra
Daughtry, will also honor Houston business leaders and entrepreneurs
such as: Jamey Rootes, president of the Houston Texans NFL team; Lupe
Fraga, CEO and founder of Tejas Office Products; James Garavaglia, the
SVP of Comerica Bank; and Wea Lee, chairman of the Southern News Group
and founder of ITV International Television Station.
Foreman is best known for leveraging his name through infomercials to
make millions with the George Foreman Grill and many other products.
“He is a major, major entrepreneur. He has his own cleaning products,
his own clothing line and the George Foreman Grill,” says Daughtry, the
president and CEO of Excellent Care Management. “He’s one of the
athletes who took his name and branded it. …We want to honor him for
his entrepreneurship. We are really, really excited.” –terry shropshire
