The Heineken Red Star Soul Tour has become one of the most exciting
musical events of the year. On a balmy night in Atlanta, the tour
brought out some of the biggest visionaries in hip hop — both past and
present. Legendary MC Big Boi of OutKast, brash newcomer Mickey Factz,
and DJ Nick Boogie brought down the house at the Atlanta show. “I’m
just glad to be a part of it!” Big Boi exclaimed. “Just finished the
album Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty — it’s
coming out in a couple of months [and we’re] working on a new André
3000 album and a new OutKast album. We’ve got a lot of music coming.”
Brooklynite Mickey Factz brought some New York swagger to the ATL
and was happy to share the stage with one of the most respected rappers
in the history of hip hop. “I’m just one of the new cats on this tour,
I think it’s a bridge between new school and old school,” said Mickey
Factz. “I’m really happy to be a part of this one with Big Boi — I
think my music is globally inspiring! My style is from the future!”
DJ Nick Boogie thought this year’s show would be particularly
special, and he praised Heineken for putting together such a unique and
entertaining event. “I’ve been on Red Star for three years and I know a
bunch of people at Heineken wanted to interact with an urban audience
in a unique way,” said DJ Nick Boogie. “They always pick an elite level
of tastemaker DJs and I consider myself to be fortunate to be a part of
it.”
