Jadakiss Isn’t Considered Suspect After Drugs Found In His Home, But His Judgment Is

Authorities raided the home of rapper Jadakiss
in Yonkers, N.Y. on Aug. 25 and seized six grams of marijuana, five
grams of heroin and a large sum of cash, according to reports. Two men
were arrested and charged; 25-year old Alberto Lajara, and 39-year old
Gabriel R. Henriquez. Officers noticed a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria
parked on the sidewalk and detected the scent of marijuana coming from
the car. They saw marijuana on the console and arrested, Lajara, the
driver. Henriquez became irate and attempted to flee the scene. Lajara
had keys to Jadakiss’ apartment and officers obtained a search warrant.
There they discovered the drugs and approximately $42,000 in cash.

Jadakiss
has not been arrested or questioned regarding the incident nor is he a
criminal suspect or wanted by the police. But, the questions have
arisen regarding the rapper’s relationship to Henriquez. Authorities
revealed that Henriquez was leasing a room in the rapper’s large
apartment, but, given his high profile and the fact that he has a
career and a livelihood to maintain, Jadakiss—and all high profile
celebrities—have to be wary of who they allow into their inner circle.

Screening
your friends is sound advice and is often dispensed to young African
American males, in particular, who finds themselves in questionable
situations that jeopardize their success and wealth. But, we typically
don’t remind these young men that you should also screen associates in
your life for business or monetary reasons. Potential financiers for
entreprneuerial endeavors, non-profits that you license your name
and/or image to, and yes, people that lease property from you, should
all be scrutinized heavily. Subsequently, Lajara was charged
with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor, and
disorderly conduct. Henriquez was charged with second-degree criminal
possession of marijuana, third-degree criminal possession of a
controlled substance and second-degree assault and second-degree
obstruction of governmental administration. But all the headlines will
say is “Drugs Discovered At Rapper Jadakiss’ Home.” You’ve got too much
to lose to tolerate fools. –todd williams
