Naked View of You

When looking in the mirror there are things that we can see. There are things that we say to ourselves without really understanding the journey within. The acquisition of things, pounds, personalities and behavioral setbacks seem to be the diet of the day. How can I reduce my ego? How can I raise and increase the pounds of self-esteem? That is the value of looking in the mirror and being honest about seeing not only the external but also the internal ability to change.

The vision of our hearts, spirits and minds must be able to intertwine and connect to the person that we choose to be. We have to be open to continuous transformation and understanding exactly how the growth that we experience shapes our minds and orders our steps.

Action steps are those constant self-improvements — the elimination of the ego, the value of spreading hope and love. Action steps that allow you to develop new disciplines of exercise. It’s important to develop a regimen, even if it’s only five minutes of calisthenics or running in place, then gradually increasing to 20 or 30 minutes. And while you’re shedding the pounds, shed the behavior that’s camouflaging the real you.

Grief and guilt need not be what you see when look at yourself. Instead, start to take the action steps that will allow you to continue to move forward. Some change is better than no change. But there is no need to let your self-esteem be battered by your outward appearance. Cast guilt aside and make the changes you need to make in order to carry yourself to the next level.

Remorseful feelings are never helpful. In fact, they are the very weights that keep you rooted in the past and wed to self-destructive behavior. God has forgiven all of those actions in the past that you repented for. The onus is on you to accept that forgiveness as a reality. You are the Creator’s, you are the scriptwriter of all of those things that you will have in your life. Turn the lights on inside. Light the candle inside. Grow the garden that is inside of you. Grow into a beautiful new you. Peace.
