Jennifer Hudson’s estranged brother-in-law, William Balfour, was indicted on three charges of murder and one count of home invasion for allegedly killing Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew in October.
Prosecutors have painted Balfour, 27, as a troubled, “jealous” man who murdered his ex-wife, Julia Hudson’s family because he thought she had a new boyfriend. Balfour has also been charged with one count of home invasion. He denies the charges, and his lawyer told the court earlier this month there is no forensic evidence linking him to the killings.
This news comes after Hudson’s recent announcement that she will perform at the MusiCares Person of the Year Gala, a charity event in February that precedes the Grammy Awards. The gala is to be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
