Congressman Bobby Rush talks Barack Obama and current state of black America

altCongressman Bobby Rush has an uncanny presence that’s
hard to describe. The civil rights leader and co-founder of the Chicago
chapter of the Black Panther Party has seen the good, the bad and the
ugly sides of American politics and is the only person that has
defeated the future President of the United States –Barack Obama – in
an election.

As the inaugural
ceremony of America’s first Black president approaches, there are still
several questions to be answered about the state of African Americans
in this country. In a candid interview with rolling, the legendary
leader opened up about the current dangers facing young black males,
what the seating of Roland Burris to the Senate means for the community
and why he thinks President-elect Barack Obama is only the beginning. –gavin philip godfrey
