rush to hire a lawyer that you aren’t familiar with or haven’t done a
little research on. Here are seven simple ways to make sure your money

1.
Identify an attorney whose practice is focused on representing injured
victims of negligence. The more experience the attorney has in
accidents like yours, the better the attorney can represent you and
your interests.
2.
Look up biographical information, including information on the website
regarding the lawyer and the law firm. Also look for articles, FAQs and
any other reference materials about the attorney and the practice.
3. Find out if friends or family members have had any experience with any attorney you are considering.
4.
Find out if their staff is skilled. You will be communicating with his
legal assistant constantly so you want to make sure that your
personalities are compatible. The assistant should speak with you on a
regular basis, return your phone calls in a timely fashion, and be
available to you when the attorney is not.
5.
Check for conflicts of interest – find out if the lawyer represents
opposing parties. Example: If filing for bankruptcy, you would want to
know if the lawyer represents any of your creditors.
6.
Contact the state bar association to make sure that your lawyer is in
good standing and to determine if the attorney belongs to a personal
injury trial lawyers’ associations, like the American Association for
Justice. Your state should also have trial lawyers’ associations.
7.
If you have a working relationship with an attorney that isn’t in your
area, find out if they can refer you to a lawyer that’s close to you.
