The inside scoop on World’s Greatest Dad:
“I’m very excited about this film. It stars Robin Williams, and is a
dark comedy both directed and written by Bobcat Goldthwait. It’s
unusual; it’s a comedy about a kid who dies and how his father deals
with that.”

His character in the film:
“My character’s name is Mike Lane. Everything that Robin Williams’
character wants to be is the guy that I am in this film. Midway through
the film, everything reverses and you start to see the true nature of
people.” 

The early response: “The
film has been received very well so far. We had the premiere at the
Sundance Film Festival, and everyone seems to love it. We’re just
waiting now to see if it’s going to get picked up.”

 His career goals:
“The direction that I’m going in is whatever direction that God puts me
in. I have a plan, but the way God works … it’s His plan and not my
plan. I just pray every day that I’m in His will, and the way that it’s
going now, He’s moving out of primetime shows and into film. I’m very
happy with that.”

Advice to younger people:
“People who want to get into the industry — whether it’s acting,
producing, or direction — need to equip themselves in terms of
education. That is something that no one can take away from you. What
[education] does is equip you to do the job, and you’ll be ahead of
most people. If you want longevity, you have to prepare yourself. I
really believe that. In terms of emotional preparation, I believe you
have to equip yourself with faith and patience.”
