McDonald’s Next Generation Applicant Anthony Greenwood

anthony greenwod mccafeFor Next Generation Applicant Anthony Greenwood, the benefit of having a father that owned and operated a McDonalds restaurant for 23 years have been tremendous. “I’ve seen things [and] I’ve heard things that have prepared me for my journey into the system,” he says. “It allows me to avoid the pitfalls and I’m not only learning from my mistakes —I’m learning from his mistakes as well. It’s always great to have a pioneer in front of you that you can learn from.”

Greenwood says McDonalds places its many owner/operators in a position to succeed like no other franchise model. “You have the brand recognition, so automatically you have a customer base … ,” he says. “It’s been around for many years and just based on that you have an instant customer base. You also have a lot of support from McDonald’s corporation, everybody’s here to support you.”

3 Reasons Anthony Greenwood Believes McDonald’s Is A Good Fit For African Americans:

The NBMOA:

“Being a black McDonald’s owner/operator, we have a lot [of] things to overcome. There are people [at] the National Black McDonalds Operators Association that can help you and guide you along the way.”

The McCafe Campaign:

“I think its opening people’s eyes [to the fact] that we’re not just a hamburger shop. We’re opening the eyes of a lot of consumers. In the five mile radius where [our customers] live, there is nobody else with specialty coffees. … They’re trying out different things that they’ve only seen people in suburban areas drink.”

Focus on Community and Hard Work:

“They want to know that you [practice] community awareness, and aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and work hard. Look at this business as a result of blood, sweat, and tears, [instead of] an investor … having other people do all the work.” –todd williams
