phillip jackson – right man, right plan

altDemocratic Candidate, State Representative of the 26th District of Illinois

Moving his Chicago community to reach new heights in 2008 is an issue that Phillip Jackson feels passionately about. As a candidate in the Feb. 5, 2008 election for state representative of the 26th District of Ill., Jackson is prepared to lead the district and address the needs of its citizens. “I’ve been going through the district asking people [if] they know who their state [representative] is, and at this point they don’t. A state [representative] is somebody who has got to work to keep that district connected to all those laws, all those budgets, [and] all those activities that are happening in Springfield. I am working to do that,” he says.

Candidate Jackson plans to tackle many important issues, including state funding for education. He is eager to map out his plans for a change. “At this point the state of Illinois is running last in so many important categories, including educational funding. We’re 49th out of 50 states in terms of the proportion [of funds] provided by the state of Illinois to the educational outcomes that our children are receiving. I would hit the ground running when it comes to making the state of Illinois the pre-eminent state in the nation in terms of how we educate all of our children,” explains Jackson.

Poised to improve the public transportation fiasco that the city is currently experiencing, Jackson firmly believes he is the man to bring about such a change. “I can raise an independent voice, I can challenge the status quo and I can represent the people of this district,” he says.
