As soon as I pressed play on 50 Cent’s Before I Self-Destruct I was overcome with a sense of dejavu, all of the tracks sounded like I’d heard them before. The lyrical content was weak and sadly I have to report that 50 hasn’t evolved any as an artist since the release of his first album Get Rich or Die Trying. The electro-pop track “Hold Me Down” was a failed attempt at a fun song, and it was absolutely tuneless. 50 may want to stick to selling vitamin water, not CD’s.
Leona Lewis’ new album Echo which was co–written by Justin Timberlake and One Republic’s Ryan Tedder finds Lewis is still singing about the trials of relationships. The album consists of an assortment of tracks that include slow piano-accented intros followed by crashing drums as she hits the more climactic parts of the tracks. The song “Broken” is a heart wrenching ballad that portrays the levels of emotion a broken heart endures. The album has an extremely somber and depressing feel, its definitely a break up CD.
Custom Cars & Cycles by Triple C’s album consists addresses the usual topics — the material things i.e., money, cars, jewelry, clothes, and all of the other trappings that come with being a rapper. The tracks that set themselves apart from the rest:  “Diamonds & Maybach Pt. 2”, featuring Suede Royale who absolutely excuted the hook, along with “White Sand” and “Erry Day” which are both songs with amazing bass.
In Love & War by Amerie
Amerie’s, the first single “Why R U” catches my attention because I wasn’t quite sure if Amerie wanted to sing or rap. The second single “Heard Em All” was catchy and sure to have everyone out of their seats whenever it is played. Amerie teams up with Trey Songz on “Pretty Brown” and overall the album isn’t horrible, it’s just a little different from what consumers are used to hearing.
Pretty Ricky’s new album entitled Pretty Ricky exudes sex with the upbeat “Mr. Goodbar” setting the tone. When the group slows it down on “Lapdance,” the song turns into a sizzling instructional about pole-dancing moves and sipping Patron tequila which will prove useful at some point in time.  This is certainly a “baby making” album.
