On Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, The Urben Pro Group and Grae Enterprises closed the monthlong Great Women In Music Festival with a special evening themed “A Look Within,” paying tribute to Essence best-selling author Teri Woods.
Woods writes gripping urban tales and has embraced a generation of readers. She was surrounded by fans, old and new, including Bimmy Antney, formerly of Def Jam Records and now the editor-in-chief of Corner Store Magazine; and legendary journalist and syndicated radio personality Flo Anthony. The festival’s general manager, Angie Francois, offered that Woods’ work deserved to be recognized.
Anthony served as the mistress of ceremony and presented Woods a letter of appreciation and a gift bag from the FABULOUS skin care and color line. Guests danced to the sounds of DJ Korrek and were introduced to D3, described by the hosts as a recipe for fun — drinking, dining and dancing.
