Actress LisaRaye, who’s taping her very own reality show slated to premiere on TV One in the spring of 2010, was in Atlanta over the pre-Thanksgiving holiday weekend. She came in town to host a pole dancing contest at Magic City given by Divas Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships to college bound students and grants to small business entrepreneurs.
LisaRaye coached the contestants and admitted that pole dancing is a wonderful exercise that boosts self confidence, but requires a great deal of upper body strength. She shared, “You can turn to your friend or the next woman and say you know what, ‘let’s each reach one [and] teach one,’ because that’s what we have to do right now. It’s about empowering the next woman. You never know what [she] will do for you.”
When asked how she’s holding up while her marital issues are the highlight of popular blogs and gossip columns, she offered with conviction, “I think happiness is a process. I think happiness begins with knowing where you come from, where you’re trying to go, what path you’re trying to go down … Take time to find [out] who you are. That’s all you gotta do and have fun while you’re doing it. Live your life.”
The untitled reality series follows the star who’s currently balancing her career and personal life, which has been the subject of tabloid fodder. Viewers will also be privy to watching the single mom offer advice and maternal wisdom to her 19-year-old daughter Kai, and encouragement to her incarcerated sister, the rapper Da Brat.
