Usher Lending a Hand on ‘Extreme Makeover’

alt

Usher, recently returned home to his native Tennessee to give the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” cast and crew build a new home for a deserving family. Homeowner, Trina Scott, lost her husband in a tragic car accident, leaving her alone to raise three children. The home that she shared with her children was riddled with problems, and she needed assistance — fast. Trina worked full time and also volunteered with Concerns of Police Survivors, in honor of her late husband.
While Usher’s handyman skills are not what he’s best known for, the singer was more than happy to pick up a hammer and go to work building the Scott family’s new home. Usher’s nonprofit organization, New Look, awarded the Scott family $25,000 which they will disburse in $500 increments for business start-ups in the local community.
New Look offers grants to young people around the country to assist them with entrepreneurial development projects and business endeavors. Young entrepreneurs interested in receiving a grant can visit www.poweredbyservice.org or www.ushersnewlook.org.
Usher’s contribution is made that much more significant in that he has experienced personal difficulties himself with his divorce from wife Tamika. “The Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” episode with Usher is scheduled to air Dec. 6 at 8 P.M. EST on ABC. –christian johnson
