Kandi Burruss’ Tweet and Greet

Since 2006, the social Web site Twitter has provided users an outlet to post live messages while following their favorite people. But it’s just within the past year or so that it has become a huge phenomenon. “The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s” Kandi Burruss raised the bar even higher by hosting the largest tweet-up by an African American celebrity.
Hundreds of fans lined up  to see Kandi, reality show host Toya, and rappers Rasheeda and Diamond. Despite standing in long lines for hours, the energy of the crowd was electrifying. Tweeters came from far and near for the opportunity to talk with the ladies and take pictures, hailing from as far away as the Bahamas. While participants waited in line and talked among themselves they began establishing face-to-face relationships which they are certain to continue online.

”It was very fun, the great thing was we were able to meet so many people up close and person,” said Kandi.
Rasheeda, Kandi’s longtime friend, couldn’t pass up the chance to support her friend and mingle with her Twitter fans. “This is the perfect opportunity to actually talk to all the people we talk to on Twitter and the good part is they all had to be my Twitter friend. I felt like this was a great opportunity as an artist to let our fans know it’s not just about you buying the music, but that we actually want to talk to you and see you and spend time with you,” Kandi said smilingly..
The event was entertaining and inspirational to say the least, with producers Don Vito and Kendrick Dean giving advice and words of encouragement to the audience. Kandi is considering more Tweet and Greet events in different cities, if time and permits. She does however plan to pair down the invitation list for upcoming Tweet and Greets in order to spend more time mingling.      –christian johnson
