Sneaker lovers  across the nation recently converged at the NikeStore in Atlanta to celebrate The Shoe Game’s three-year anniversary party. Notable sneaker enthusiasts such as DJ Greg Street and Mayor were on hand as several attendees won Space Jam Jordans, Nike SB Gucci Dunks, NikeiD sessions and a never before seen LeBron VII sample. G-Roc, the website’s creator, spoke about the importance of the anniversary party and provided insight on the hottest sneakers of the decade. –a.r.

Why was it important for TSG to host an anniversary party?

It’s important for any company to recognize their anniversary. For me, it’s important to celebrate another year of success. I started TheShoeGame.com back in September 2006 and it’s impressive to see how far the site has come.

What was the goal of the company when you started it three years ago?

The goal was to first start selling sneakers online. The goal later changed because I wanted to keep sneaker lovers in the loop with the latest sneaker info and news. The overall goal was to reach thousands of sneaker lovers around the world and to provide them with dope sneaker content.

What are your top 3 shoes of the decade and why?

Air Trainer SC – The Air Trainer SC is a classic shoe that was endorsed by Bo Jackson in the early ’90s, and Nike released some dope colorways in the early 2000s.

Zoom Vick – The Zoom Vick was a dope trainer, and I’ve always been a big trainer head. The Zoom Vick was like the Air Zoom Turf, Air Diamond Turf, Trainer SC of the 2000s

Air Force II “ESPO” – The Air Force II ‘ESPO’ because it was the first clear sneaker that I’ve ever seen. I was in love with the ESPOs, and I always thought the concept was cool. It broke the common sneaker design and truly pushed the envelope. It’s definitely a sneaker that would get anyone’s attention.

Which shoes will make a big impact in 2010?

2010 Jordan Brand celebrates their 25th anniversary, so [there will] be a bunch of Air Jordan releases. Nike will re-release some of their classic models, and retros always seem to make Nike heads happy. I’m really excited to see what all the brands have to offer in 2010.
