The New Year began horribly for producer Demetrius “Shawty Redd” Stewart and a man who was allegedly killed by Stewart hours after the start of 2010. According to several reports, the unidentified man was murdered at Stewart’s home in Hampton, Ga. after an argument spiraled out of control. Stewart eventually turned himself in to the Henry County Police Department and is currently awaiting arraignment.
Stewart gained prominence as a top-notch producer after supplying Young Jeezy with several tracks for his mixtape Trap or Die and the critically acclaimed Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101. However, Stewart landed his biggest hit with Snoop Dogg in 2007 with the ‘80s-inspired “Sexual Eruption,” which landed at the top of Billboard charts. He recently produced several tracks for Gucci Mane’s The State vs. Radric Davis and was scheduled to produce some tracks on Shyne’s comeback album. —amir shaw
