Apparently, former NBA player Jayson Williams continues to have trouble with breaking the law.
This time, Williams is in trouble for driving across four lanes of oncoming traffic and smashing his Mercedes into a tree, as reported by a nearby witness.
The witness, who has not been identified in media reports, saw Williams get into a black 2007 Mercedes and maneuver the car “in an unsteady and abrupt manner, in that the vehicle crossed four lanes of oncoming traffic and crashed into a tree on the sidewalk.”
According to court documents, police are charging Williams with two counts of drunk driving. The officer who arrived first on the crash scene observed that Williams was “bleeding from his face and that [Williams] had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath.”
Months prior, the retired player agreed to a plea deal that would net at least 18 months of jail time for reckless manslaughter. Williams accidentally shot Costas Christofi, and then tried to cover it up.
Williams is currently in the hospital with a fractured neck from the accident. He is set to be arraigned from his hospital bed Jan. 7. –iesha daniels
