Georgia officials asked residents to avoid driving Friday, Jan. 8, due to icy roads.
As a wintry mix of snow and ice dusted the southeast, treacherous road conditions led to a 29-vehicle pileup near Atlanta’s airport Thursday evening.
The National Weather Service issued the following weather advisory: “… icy roads possible across north Georgia today, very cold and windy conditions expected through Saturday.”
Residents were urged to stay tuned to local news for updates on road conditions and information on school and business closings.
