Police have arrested a 20-year-old Detroit woman they say ordered her 22-year-old boyfriend to murder her mother.
Devonna Hines and Antoine Perkins have been charged with first degree murder and other felony charges for shooting Kathy Hines, 41, multiple times.
Hines’ body was found on Jan. 3, after police responded to a 911 call. The daughter initially told investigating officers that she had just discovered her mother’s body.
Investigators later learned that between the time they believe the mother was murdered and the time her daughter finally called police, suspect Hines tried to use her mother’s ATM card.
“There appears to be no particular motive in this case, other than a volatile relationship between Ms. Hines and her daughter,” stated Detroit Police Chief Warren Evans. “Our investigators did an outstanding job to close this most troubling homicide case with two arrests within five days.”
Devonna Hines was arraigned Jan. 10 and ordered jailed without bond. Perkins is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday, Jan. 11.
