Bill Clinton, the Man Called the ‘First’ Black President, Was Never Your Friend

Obama and Clinton

“A few years ago, this guy [Barack Obama] would have been getting us coffee.”

Yes, that is what Bill Clinton actually said about Barack Obama in the early stages of the 2008 presidential campaign when he was trying to dissuade the late, legendary Sen. Edward M. Kennedy from endorsing the upstart junior senator from Illinois.

Clinton’s statement, which was disclosed in the book Game Change, written by John Heileman and Mark Halperin — is the same book that exposed Sen. Harry Reid for using “light-skinned black” and having no “Negro dialect” when citing reasons Obama could be elected.

The Reverend Al Sharpton had this to say of the inflammatory comment: “I think that’s far more disturbing because this is someone seeking to stop Mr. Obama’s campaign and making a direct reference. I don’t know the context in which he said it, but that is far more disturbing to me than even the comments that were made by Mr. Reid.”

Game Change also exposed Clinton for saying “the only reason you are endorsing him is because he’s black. Let’s just be clear.” Clinton accused Kennedy of this, despite the fact that both Obama and Clinton are Ivy-League graduates.

So … now what do you think of the man you foolishly called the “first black president?”

I spent a great deal of my radical college years trying futilely to convince people that Billy was the true embodiment of his moniker, “Slick Willie.” Clinton is the worst kind of white liberal, for he acts like he loves you, gets close to you, yet inflicts much more collateral damage than some avowed, wild-eyed racist.

When Clinton enacted the infamous “Three Strikes,” law, which in reality shuttled black men in prison like cattle, you couldn’t hear me. Now the prison industrial complex is helping to bankrupt the nation, especially the state of California.

When Clinton popped the trap door from underneath millions of mothers by cutting off welfare without a proper safety net and adequate tools to achieve self-sufficiency, you didn’t hear me.

It wasn’t until he left office that the veneer surrounding Clinton began to peel off him like a banana. It wasn’t until the Clintons and Barack Obama were in the throes of a heated presidential campaign that his façade dissolved and his true conniving self was bared.

This latest revelation is simply further confirmation of what kind of man Clinton really is. And it reveals that he was never your friend. –terry shropshire
