Gospel singer Wess Morgan like most of us, has had to endure some ups and downs in life, and through it all he has built a strong relationship with God. Morgan founded the organization Repre Foundation, which helps children avoid drug and alcohol abuse. Morgan talked to rolling out about his new gospel album and how gospel music has evolved. –iesha daniels
Has album helped to reach out to people who are in need?
Yes, the project is titled, “Under An Open Heaven” and it’s really odd, but significant that God would have me travel around declaring that we’re living under an open heaven when man has called it a recession. So here I am declaring that we’re living in the promises of God.
How do you feel about the new wave, hip gospel music?
I love that the body of Christ is becoming more diverse which means we’re able to reach all people. I think it’s very important that we don’t put the gospel of Christ in one box and package it one way, and hope that everybody receives it. Who are we to put Him into one style of music? If you’re preaching good news, that’s the gospel.
What can you tell others with similar stories to yours that can keep them going?
I think it’s so important to have a relationship with God. You’ve got to know who you are in Christ, you can not help anybody else unless you know who you are.
