Wordspit is the new face of McDonald’s Dollar Van campaign. The intellectual rapper hails from Brooklyn, N.Y., and is ready to take the industry by storm.
What makes Wordspit different from other rap artists?
I like to think of myself as the down-to-earth dude that people can relate to and that’s my thing, I like to connect with the people. I have relevant content that I can relay to my listeners, that they can apply to their everyday life. I am able to find that fine line where lyricism meets entertainment and just combine the medium.
What can fans expect to hear on your album?
Right now they can purchase the Coolest B-Boy Stance and you can preview some of the tracks on my MySpace page or purchase the whole album for $5. The album is versatile, it’s like my tribute to hip-hop and consists of some very strong alternative, acoustic, rock ‘n’ roll, fusion and hip-hop tracks.
How did it feel to have McDonald’s recruit you for the Dollar Van campaign?
I [can’t] explain how I felt, just to be approached by McDonald’s. I consume this product every day but just to have them come to me and say ‘I want you to be the voice of my dollar menu breakfast campaign,’ like how do [I] explain the joy I felt? There is no way to express that, I was just very happy.
