What sets you apart from other songwriters?

I really live my songs, the thing is a lot of songwriters refuse to live life. I consider myself to be a ‘lifeaholic’ so I have to live or else what’s the point?

What was the inspiration behind ‘Blame It?’

‘Blame It’ was a song that just made a lot of sense, we’ve all been there. When you’ve had a late night out and you wake up and you’re late for work, it’s like ‘blame it on the alcohol.’

How does it feel to be nominated for six Grammys?

It feels like it’s not real, I don’t want to jinx it, but it feels good, it feels like winning the lottery. I feel  blessed to have the opportunity to go to the Grammys.

What can listeners look forward to hearing from you?

It’s completely different, I’m always pushing the envelope, it’s not what you would think I would be doing because of ‘Blame It’ or ‘Say Ah’ and the other songs I’ve written.  I feel like I’ve been given a great opportunity to develop myself as an artist.
