If Gilbert Arenas uses humor when facing difficult circumstances, he should be exhausted from laughter after being charged with one count of gun possession.

However, it’s likely that Arenas has finally put all jokes aside as the future of his NBA career and $100 million contract becomes increasingly uncertain each day.

The embattled star was charged after being investigated for carrying a gun without a license, which is a felony in the District of Columbia. A hearing is scheduled today in Washington Superior Court.

Arenas reportedly took several guns from his home in Virginia and brought them to the Verizon Center’s locker room to confront teammate Javaris Crittenton after the two argued over a gambling debt.

Arenas could be sentenced to five years in prison if convicted,  but he is expected to seek a plea deal that would reduce the charge to a misdemeanor. –amir shaw
