Mystikal Released From Prison, Encourages Rappers to Be More Responsible

MystikalMystikal recently became a free man after serving a six-year prison term for sexual assault. The platinum selling rapper — who recorded for No Limit Records during the late ’90s — pleaded guilty in 2004 to videotaping and forcing his stylist to perform sexual acts on him. The stylist reportedly cashed several of Mystikal’s checks without his permission.

Following his release, Mystikal spoke about the increasing number of rappers who are incarcerated. He encouraged his peers to take advantage of their success. “We gotta pay more attention to what we’re doing to our[selves],” he said during an interview. “We gotta take responsibility for what we do. We can’t be foolish, especially when you are blessed and successful. We gotta tighten up.”

Now 39, Mystikal plans to continue his career in hip-hop and give back to the community. “I’m gonna be doing a lot of positive stuff,” he said. “Wait until I shake the world up now.” –amir shaw
