PZI Jeans held a clothing drive to help the earthquake victims of Haiti. In addition to the drive, PZI is also sending a large inventory of their clothing line to the island. Rolling out stopped by the drive to chat with Claire Jason, creative director and VP of PZI Jeans; actress Terri Vaughn; and volunteers about why they are lending support to their beleaguered Caribbean brothers and sisters.

Terri Vaughn, Actress
Why did you participate in PZI Jeans’ clothing drive?
The people need help. We’re so fortunate and so blessed on so many levels. We can get up and eat, put on some clothes and live a normal, regular life. How could I not do something to help? Even if it’s just a little bit, a little bit goes a long way. That’s why I’m here, I’m supposed to help.
Claire Jason, VP and creative director of PZI Jeans
What kinds of donations have you received from the public?
We’ve gotten so many beautiful products — brand-new dresses, we have shoes and men’s suits — nice gently used and new clothing. Because we have this huge warehouse space, we are going to continue to receive goods indefinitely until the people in Haiti are somewhat re-established. Originally when we started the PZI drive, we were asking for clothing, but we received word that they’re desperately in need of female hygiene items as well as items for children. If you have those items, we would be more than happy to get it to the people who need it.
Melba Blair, Donation Participant
Why was it important for you to donate?
I, too, used to be homeless years ago. … Somebody gave to [me] and now I’m giving back.
Do you have any relatives in Haiti?
Fortunately, I don’t have any relatives in Haiti, but we are all children of God so I am in a way connected to someone there.
