General Larry Platt Offered a Record Deal, ‘Pants On the Ground’ to Be a Single

general larry plattGeneral Larry Platt moved one step closer to becoming a recording artist after receiving an offer to sign with Jake Records. The 62-year-old civil rights activist who sang “Pants on the Ground” at an “American Idol” audition has become a pop culture sensation.

Since footage of his audition aired on “American Idol” last week, “Pants on the Ground” has remained a leading topic on Twitter, Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback Brett Favre chanted it during the NFL playoffs and Platt appeared as a guest on “The View.” If Platt signs with Jake Records, he would team up with producers to make “Pants on the Ground” an official single. The single would eventually allow Platt to earn money from ring tone sales, publishing and concert appearances.
